Jerusalem (Local Missions)

Our Community

There are many areas and venues where Liberty Baptist Church is out and at work in our community through other departments in our overall missions program.  Under Acts 1:8 Jerusalem, volunteers serve and share the gospel with the lost in the following areas:

LBC Food Pantry

In partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of N.E. Tennessee, food distributions are provided once-a-month, to those in need in our church neighborhood and beyond.   Families arriving early before distribution begins are greeted by our evangelism team who witness and give gospel tracts to the food pantry recipients. A gospel message is provided each month as we strive to not only help feed the body but most importantly feeding the soul of those in need. Various gospel presentations are provided for those waiting to receive food items.

Raceway Ministries

Twice a year in Bristol, hundreds of thousands of NASCAR fans come to Bristol Motor Speedway for the Spring and Fall races.  Liberty Baptist Church has a group of trained volunteers and chaplains who serve with Raceway Ministries during each race in the stands and in the surrounding campgrounds during race week and race weekends, handing out Bibles and other Christian literature while manning tents and prayer stations for the fans.  During each race, through the efforts of Raceway Ministries and the power of God, many people are saved and make commitments to follow Christ as the result of these volunteers being where the lost are during this busy time at BMS.

Those who are interested in working inside the track must complete the RM chaplain training.  For information about the training visit the Raceway Ministries website at:   http://www.bristolracewayministries.org
